Taking Care of Each Other!
Taking care of our teachers, school personal, support staff and administrators is a necessary investment. We ask people what they wish for or where the needs are, then we create the initiative. They can be a one time project or more sustainable depending on the request.
Learning is more than just a textbook and a desk. It is about the accessible tools and aesthetics as well! The LOM team collaborates with administrators and teachers who are interested in creating environments that up the morale and expand bursts of happiness throughout the day which can lead to improved moods and behaviors!
We Believe that Positive Work and Learning Environments Stimulate Optimism.
Check out the Brookside Barracuda mural initiative. Thank you to muralist, Pam Olin and community volunteers. There are two murals at the campus: at the carline and at the bus lane.
THE LOM PROJECT has a three-year collaboration agreement with The Florida Center and First Step of Sarasota to increase Mental Health Counselors at the elementary level at Garden, Taylor Ranch and Wilkinson Elementary Schools. They each now have a second mental health counselor which benefits all. Brookside Middle School added a mental health counselor and two SAPs for its 6th-8th grade populations.
We Believe that positively supporting Mental Health bridges better Learning Outcomes for all involved.
In partnership with FaceAutism through Dynasty Dance Clubs in Lakewood Ranch, LOM continues to sponsor Ballroom Dance Classes that focusses on the practice of learning to express through dance which builds overall confidence and increases the connection between mind and body. Students learn the Tango, Rumba, Waltz, Salsa and Free Style combinations.
The LOM Project supports a second Integrated Elementary School Therapist at three elementary schools who conduct one-on-one counseling to students referred into the program for a variety of issues. For more information listen to the Podcast Centering Kids: Advice from the experts at The Florida Center for Early Childhood.
While we are in the business of the profession of education, we do not often feel professional. We have to begin to change our own cultural norms within education. One way to do that is by starting with a good quality headshot that educators and school personnel can use for an online presence or updated resumes like Ryan Chase, Principal at Brookside Middle School, did. We bring our photographer to your an outdoor setting on your school campus. It's a safe space to strike a pose and just be you! Kids and parents don't want us to be perfect; they want us to be real!

This free mental health, suicide prevention and anti-stigma presentation by NAMI is tailored to teachers and staff and focused on how to talk with youth about mental health issues and how to work with students and family members. We work with your schedules so that learning is convenient.
Get your team excited and motivated to attend in-service work/learning days by treating the staff to fresh coffee and food that's good for you. Just let us know which day you would like a visit and we will arrange the rest.
We want you to know we appreciate your efforts on behalf of the community.
